1998 ONWARDS
Chris Bell has a year as Captain which seems to effect his batting
but he takes 50 wickets. Other averages well down as team decide to play in Two Counties League only, with cup competitions on Sundays. Paul Culley joins the first team squad. Second team opt for Two Counties as well and secure the services of Colin and
Mike Potten plus the incredible Mark Sproats. The seconds win
the T.C. Cup Plate Final in an exciting match at Mistley.
1999 : Adrian Stockton captains the team again and scores 1,665
runs which is 1,158 more than second placed Paul Culley.
Steve Bell is top wicket taker with 46. Aussies, Trent
Fitzpatrick and Paul McDonald join us for the season.
Second tour of the York area where we meet Dick
Brewster again. Mark Sproats is a sensation for second
team, he scores 744 runs, 297 of them in one match.
Kevin Priestland, another player from Gt.Horkesley, adds
more depth to the team. South African Angus Ryan also
joins us for the season.
2001 : First ever season in Div. 1 of the Two Counties, a creditable
4th place is attained. Stuart Hammond, a well known local
cricketing star joins us from Eight Ash Green and scores
1,069 runs and takes 30 wickets in first season. Adrian
Stockton regains his form with the bat, scoring 1,259 with
Chris Bell and Mark Sproats both making over 700.
Suffolk Cup winners as I.E.S are beaten in the final. The
50th anniversary celebrations are held in July, with many
ex-Tats attending.
Seconds put a junior team in Sec. E of Suffolk Alliance and
win the league. Top run scorer is Dan Shanks with 653
with good support coming from Karl Pearce.
2000 : No startling performances but Mark Sproats proves he can
compete at first team level , with 840 runs at 35. Major
new signing was Gavin Driver from Stutton, who gave the
bowling more of an edge. Runners-Up in Suffolk Cup.
Second team struggles a bit ,but the return of Steve Porter
along with son Matthew, is a great help.
Kester Clarke rejoins the club after an absense of 24 years
and soon has the outfield looking at its best.
The Suffolk Cup was won by Tattingstone in 2001, after we had
been runners-up the year before, in our first year of the entry.
On the right above is Dave Reynolds who made the most effort to
attend the anniversary celebrations, he came from Swansea. Dick
Brewster also joined us from York, which is about a three hour drive.
