Suffolk cricket. Extra information about these or any other teams would be
much appreciated.
All the Tattingstone Cricket Club details can be found on the links below.
CODDENHAM : Their original pitch was in a field on the Needham Road, with cricket
being played on matting in 1960s. In early 1970s, the club used
Claydon School and later the Blue Circle pitch in Claydon.
A new pitch was constructed at the top of High Street on land
owned by Dave Bickers in late 1990s, but was only used a for a few
years before a merger with Grundisburgh and a move to Rushmere
Sports Centre. Tom Palmer was the driving force of the new ground
with the 1960's team including such names as Russ Gissing,
Alan Emsden, Ray Maskell and the Palmer family.
From Rushmere Coddenham & Grundisburgh moved to Greshams
where they played for several years before disbanding in 2016.
CRANES : Cranes did have a cricket team themselves but the Cranes Ground
in Playford road, Ipswich was best known for being the home of
Mallards Cricket Club. Ipswich Town Football Club, took over the
entire complex to build an academy, forcing cricket off.
DEBENHAM : Played at sports centre in village till 1995, when is disbanded due
to shortage of players. Had a useful Two Counties League team.
David Leach, Rupert Bouverie, Will Mugglestone, plus the Gayfer
and Aldis brothers, made it a good unit.
DENNINGTON : Played behind the church in the village in the early days of the
Suffolk Alliance and continued till at least 1992.

down to play with British Sugar in 1982, until ground was taken
over for developing. Leading players were , Denis Carlin, Ronnie
Johns, Randolph Layne and Roy Stephenson.

many years, until folding in 2007. After struggling for players for a
long time, crunch finally came when the Parish Council suggested
that the rental costs would be rising considerably.
FALCONERS : A well known team from the 1970's that evolved from Cowells and
Tooks, playing at Bourne End (YMCA) and managed by John Boast.
When ground was sold for housing, Falconers folded. Their team
included, Dave Harper, Roger Leggett, Terry Green, Tony Wallis,
Stan Wagstaff, John Gilkes and many more.
FISONS : A strong established team, playing at Bent Lane, off Playford Road.
This was again taken over by the Ipswich Town Football Club for use
as a training ground in the 1990's. A competitive team including
John Bloomfied, Steve Bloomfield, Dave Halliday, and Paul Fisher.
FRAMLINGHAM : For a town the size of Framlingham, not to be able to sustain a
cricket team, is a surprise, but the club folded in the 1990's. The
pitch on the town playing fields was used by other club afterwards.
G. R. E : Insurance company based in Ipswich playing at their own sports
centre in Tuddeham Road, on what used to be a good pitch. G.R.E
was taken over by Axa and club was renamed Greshams. Hired out
later to D.B.S.Ls and Mallards.Keith Babes and Paul Easton were
best known G.R.E players. The GRE team later merged with DBSL.

PARK Co-Op and Whitton, in the 1960's. Whitton moved to play alongside
the Tooks Bakery in Norwich Road, and then folded in 1975.

merger took place. Only played on new ground for a few years
before moving to Rushmere Sports Club in 2006
